Our first day was full of little adventures: walking around in the quaint Kadirga/Kumkapi area where our guesthouse is located, sipping tea at a local tea garden next to the Grand Bazaar, tasting sticky treats and a night out in Boncuk, a meze tavern in Nevizade Sokak where we were serenaded by a local band. I remember when I was walking there, didn't hear the tram coming along and was almost ran-over by it! ;) Still here to tell the tale though! Also at some point in a weird alleyway I found myself in a catholic church's yard. It was odd, all of a sudden the architecture around me changed and it felt like being completely somewhere else in Europe!
